We've decided to place Shadowpriest.com up for sale. You can read our corporate blog entry about this decision over at our blog.

The full auction details are available at Flippa where we've listed the site.

We're doing this for a number of reasons, but primarily because we believe strongly that with cataclysm around the corner, this community would be better served by a more involved set of owners.

I'll keep everyone apprised as to the situation with the sale - if you have any questions or would like to make an offer, please visit the Flippa site above or feel free to contact us at support@bryghtpath.com.

Thanks -
B

i hope whoever buys it eliminates the Gay and Lesbian ads on here.

seriously, do those generate revenue?

i'm not a homophobe or anything.

just find it an odd choice for such a niche forum.

Wow, what? the original purchase of shadowpriest.com was a corporate maneuver? I had no idea.

Cant help but laugh at Amputee-Devotee Dating listed as another current website owned by the company. Pitty it 404's could have been some good luls there.

I hope whoever takes it over doesn't kill it.

Google and/or Adbrite control the ads - I haven't seen those particular ads. Maybe they are targeting you ;)

Yeah, removed that site - wasn't aware it was still listed. We divested that one quite some time ago.

And we did announce that we were purchasing the site when we did - but that's ok, announcements aren't popularly read here ;)

LOL you know, it's funny you mentioned that.

after posting that, i noticed i don't see those particular ads when i'm browsing from home. only from work. and although i use chromium off of a flash drive, this pc is used by multiple users.

and i know that the chromium settings/history/etc are specific to this pc because if i use a different pc, i don't see the same things.

interesting stuff.

Can we at least get the "Best Raid Gear" links etc back during this? your damned announcement took away those useful links.

They will be back shortly when I take down "the dammed announcement"

Thanks for your rather candid feedback :)

As and when the sale is done, what measures will be in place to stop our personal data (email addresses and such) from the database being the sole reason for purchase here, I don't like the idea of some data farming company buying up the database and just selling my details down river in the future to make back the money they used to buy the site.

We've no intention of selling to someone who would do this.

Thanks -

But how will you be sure that they wont make it?

After someone buys it, Will the actual "admins" of forum still have some kind of control over it?!
I hope shadowpriest.com doesnt die after it :x

I don't think this is in Simaril's hands at all : this is up to ALL OF US who post here and come here to continue making SP.com a LIVE forum :D

Pretty much this. Mods have very little to do with what is going on in the forum and it has been like that for a loooong time. Also, mods are generally just regular posters that were maintaining some stickies anyway and got promoted to mods so they can update posts they otherwise couldn't.

Keeping the current moderator staff on or not will be a decision by the new owner.. in any event, this is and always has been a user-driven site... as HoHo said far more eloquently than I could, the users are what make shadowpriest.com a special place..

Thanks -
