Hey. So, first time to do an -i hope- useful contribution here, i'm trying to compile a list of the best pre-raid gear available. I'll try to list at least 15 items per slot, keeping in line with the same style the BRGA has. That said, i will only list the total pseudopower value, and not the full calculations, because that'd take even more work, and i'm using wowhead with customized stat weights to make the list. I will list the value with spellhit in parenthesis, though. Only items obtainable through crafting, questing, 5-mans, reputation and emblems of heroism will be posted, nothing that you could only get from raids. More format soon to come, wanted to make the thread first and get some input. Apologise for the grammar, english is not my main language.
Note: I have not added anything from Outlands. The reason for this is that i didn't want to add stuff that new players wouldn't have easy access to (say, belt of blasting or spellstrike set, those mats are not-so-easily obtained anymore. Same thing with BoJ items). If you happen to have some pieces that are better than most of what it is posted here, just check their pp value and adjust acordingly... i know i will be keeping my belt of blasting, and probably my badge pants for a while...

The weights i'm using, as per the BRGA thread list, are:
* 1 spellpower = 1 PP
* 1 crit rating = 0.61 PP
* 1 haste = 0.56 PP
* 1 spirit = 0.21 PP
* 1 int = 0.19 PP
* 1 hit = 1.12 PP (when not hit-capped)

Gem choices for now will be Runed Scarlet Ruby (19pp), and Chaotic Skyflare Diamond (36.61) on metagem slots. I know it doesn't make sense because full rubies won't let you equip the CSD, so i'll add more later, i'm not sure if it's worth it though.

To-Do List:
*PvP Gear: I need someone to tell me which pvp gear to add to the list... there are way too many, and i don't know what's easy to get and what you need to have 2500 arena rating to get... and i don't want to add more than 2-3 pvp pieces per slot.
*Trinkets: I have no idea how to value trinkets, i know, i'm retarded, but i need help with that too. Edit: Just added trinkets, could use a review on my calculations xD
*Gems: Replace gems with Runed Bloodstone, considering most people won't be using blue gems in pre-raid gear, and add
Purified Shadow Crystal - 8.26pp and Potent Huge Citrine - 10.66pp when the socket bonuses would make them better. You should see some items pp change a bit.

Titanium bars are sold for ~500g a piece, cooldowns for 100g on Al'Akir. Luckily I have a pally alt who is 450 miner

Btw, isn't it kind of pointless to gem pre-raid gear with blues costing 60-130g a piece? Greens are not that much worse and cost a lot less. The +19 spelldamage gem needs exalted rep and only a few JC's have it making the gem extra-expensive. Leftover money can be spent on enchants/gear that make much bigger difference than a blue instead of (perfect) green gem in gemslot.

You're probably right, I wanted to change some enchants too, i'll do it once I review socket bonuses (for instance, there are a few items with red sockets only and i didn't take the bonus into account...)

You need to include TBC raiding gear. A lot of people have the old epics still and a good bit of them are still valid into Naxx. My suggestion would be to set a slot limit (say top 15-20) and anything TBC that fits in there put it. I'm pretty certain there will be a good mix of new and old.

I hate to disagree KJ but as the OP says:

To be honest, anyone epics from TBC that are still of equivalent standard to 80 blues will be T5/T6 standard, in which case you could skip straight to the "WotLK Raid Gear" thread and get raiding ASAP. This list is useful now - and going forward - as a starting point for anyone who wasn't lucky enough to raid at level 70, or needs to fill out a few more slots prior to naxx, much as the "Best Casual Gear" thread was in TBC.

As the OP states, it's easy to use the pseudo-power values quoted in the thread to evaluate any old epics you have left over.

This is a great guide, very well done. I would very much like to see trinkets added to the list, perhaps get some help from someone a little more experienced in theorycrafting such as Battlemaid.

In response to some of the other posts, yes I completely agree that this list should not contain TBC items. They would merely clog up the list and only serve as a comparison and not something to aim for.

I don't mind doing the calculations myself (well, actually, got exams incoming so i might not be able to do it this week, but w/e), but i basically see 3 tipes of trinkets: those with on-use abilities (who have an X min CD and work for Y seconds), those with procs (who have internal CD and a % proc rate), and those that are like the Darkmoon card: crusade, and make you stack it before it reaches full power...
Well, of those three, i have no clue how to calculate that 2nd part of the ability, and it doesn't make sense to rank them based solely on the base spellpower/crit/haste they might give you.

This thread deserves to be sticky'd.

Edit: I've been wondering about trinkets as well. Specifically, I'm wondering when to get rid of my Timbal's Focusing Crystal. I'm not sure if using its lvl70 value from the pre-wotlk raiding gear list works because I don't know if the proc receives the same value at 80 as it did at 70. /shrug
