So I've been raiding as Shadow from the launch of ICC. I'm relatively sure I'm got the right lineup gear wise, and know what are improvements, just trying to aquire them, such as the marrowgar belt or Ring of Rapid Ascent. I'm just curious of everyones take on my actually DPS. I just recently switch from a very low pop server where I never really questioned my DPS as it was just as good if not better as everyone elses, but as I've moved into a hardcore herioc guild, I feel like I'm not pulling what I should, granted everyones has a bit better gear score than I. So I'm linking several parses, and would be grateful if any vets wouldn't mind helping with a few pointers. Give me your harshest critiques, I can take it. :D

No-one here cares about Gear Score :)
Example : Talisman of Resurgence is utter crap and has nearly twice the gear score of Abyssal Rune.

Looking at armory : why 23 spell everywhere ? Are haste and crit valued so damn low for you by Simcraft that 17 Spell / 10 Haste or 17 Spell/10 Crit don't beat 23 spell ? I'd bet not. Regem every single yellow slot with 12 Spell/10 Haste.
You could spare 63 hit, but I'm sure you know :)

Looking at the logs : your DoT uptimes are way too low. You're below 80% on Saurfang that's really bad. 90%+ should be your aim. Below 90 is bad, below 80 is terrible.

Festergut Parse :
- 103 ticks of VT => 21 casts
- 14 Imp DP
- 8 MBs
- 1 SW:P
- 0 SF ??? Why ?? Even if you don't need the mana, you need the DPS.
Total = 44 casts
Your GCD = 1.5 / (1+0.32) = 1.14 s
44 x 1.14 = 51 sec
Fight was 4'24 = 264 sec
264 - 51 = 213 sec left for MF.
Your MF = 2.51/(1+0.32) = 1.9 sec
1 tick MF = 1.9/3 = 0.64 sec
213 / 0.64 = 333 ticks of MF were theoretically possible without BL/H.
You landed actually 240, missing 93.
93 x 0.64 = 59.5 sec lost over 4'24.

You lost 22% of the fight somewhere (probably more as you used Lustism). You had Vile Gas for only 2 sec, so you really lost 57sec either in Latency (brain and network), scratching balls, moving without casting or clipping stuff.

Um, I think you've analysed the wrong priest there. Those are the numbers for Chikenpriest - Kyrie was actually healing on that fight (although being harsh here, should still have cast shadowfiend for the free damage!)

Looking at the 10 man Festergut kill, Kyrie's numbers look pretty good there. Over 90% uptime on DoTs. However there could be a few more spells cast - MB and MF account for 45% of damage done whereas ideally these should be up to marginally over 50%.

However theres no need to disperse for the full 6 seconds - you should cast dispersion just before Pungent Blight finishes casting and then click it off just after.

Also consider dropping one of your pieces of hit gear. You're a few % over cap so you could afford to lose anything but your pants and still be capped with a draenei.

Oooops

Well, then couple of things Kyrie can discuss with his/her colleague ;)

Festergut 10 is indeed pretty good eventhough not enough casts. Saurfang 25 could have been much much better (72% VT uptime). Probably some work to do on fights with target switching.

Kyrie, are you keeping track of your DoTs on more than just your current target ? If not, maybe you should consider it :) Helps greatly, especially for these kind of fights.

I know I'm over hit cap. I just believe what I'm using was the best combonation of the gear that I had. I've of course saved every piece of gear I've aquired since starting ICC, for the very reason that I might go back and shuffle somethings around. Admittedly, I haven't actually gone back over it lately.

Which goes back to what I said about my gear. I had always just tried to slot in the highest GS with the best stats on it. I guess I need to go back over what I have and base it on optimal stats.

Yea sorry I guess I didn't look at all the parses, shouldn't have put in one I was healing...

That was actually something thats been pointed out to me, the saurfang fight in paticular, as I've been trying to app into some new guilds. I think on saurfang, especially the herioc ones, I'm paranoid about not keeping my add slowed with MF and not really focusing on much else. I haven't really given this much thought as one of my weaker points until now. I'll have to pay attention to it a bit more.

Personally I think that its more important to focus damage on the adds to get them killed as fast as possible. If that means the dots fall of Saurfang in the meantime then so be it. Although for the snaring, there should typically be a hunter trap or something more reliable than MF - generally I open with VT on the adds, then MF until they are closeish to dead before finishing with MB + SWD.

However, I do make sure to refresh my DoTs on Saurfang just before the adds spawn. That helps to ensure that they are still up (or only just run out) by the time the adds are dead.

When u use the Best Raid Gear list on this forum. U can calculate which gear gives you the highest DPS. Write down the items you have and behind it the "math" that has been done for that item. This way you can calculate which set gives you the highest dps (in theory).

Eg i had to choose between:

Sandals of consecration 288.68 and Wand of Ruby claret 251 84.32 = 373 Spellpower
or
Deathfrostboots 250.94 and Nightmare Ender 277 141.06 = 392 Spellpower

Doing the math was the only way to see that the second set of items is the better set. By just swiching them around and looking at my character sheet i could,nt tell. So it takes some work but its worth it in the end to have a list of youre gear with the Spellpower equivalent written down next to it. And then offcourse you still need to have : enought hit, and balanced crit/haste. You cant just pick the highest spellpower items, because then you would have 0 hit. (when you look at the list the BIS items are all lacking hit). So its about making a combination of gear that gives you enough hit, spellpower and balances crit/haste. And that takes time and doing some math.

^ Pretty subtle but important point in there that is almost lost in the rest of your post... you need to have the right combination of gear and (to some extent) balance haste/crit. The BRGA thread is a great thread for comparitive values but it is based on an assumption of static gear. The only true way to judge your upgrades is to run your character through simcraft and see the relative PP values.
