All of the analysis data has been moved to the wiki:

However, I will continue to use this thread for discussion.

Nice work :)

Though I do have to question your item tradeoffs.

Crunching the same numbers (working off 50 dmg) I get:

Dmg / Hit / Crit
------------------
50 0 0
47.3 1 0
43.5 0 1
42.0 2 0
40.5 1 1

The item value from 50 dmg is: (50 * 0.85)^1.5 = 277.1

Item value for 1 hit is: (1 * 8 )^1.5 = 22.6

Item value for 1 crit is: (1 * 14)^1.5 = 52.4

So the 1 crit one: ((277.1 - 52.4)^(2/3))/0.85 = 43.5 not 47

Bah..... mistype on my post......

I -did- use 43/0/1 despite what I wrote up there.
I'll edit the post....

Nicely done...

Question: With the Arcane Mage calculations, did you include this?

Channeled follows normal x/3.5 if im not mistaken. But can also now exceed 100% ( as in Arcane missiles actually being 5 / 3.5 = ~1.43.
For the rest, it's nice to see that we would be capable of outDPSing Frost Mages... but it's scary to see how long it takes before they're OOM :P

Aren't you assuming we cast VE every damage cycle then? Unless you do the math for one solid minute, wouldn't it not be accurate? I'm very tired atm, might not be reading it right.

57% mindflay

Analyzing sequence: vampiric_embrace/improved_pain/vampiric_touch/mind_blast/death/mind_flay-x2
OOM=433sec
vs

81% mindflay

Analyzing sequence: improved_pain/vampiric_touch/mind_blast/death/buffed_flay-x2
OOM=347sec

Those OOM numbers are wrong, if i look at it quickly

For max DPS i would always start with mindblast to trigger cooldown ASAP.....i think

My bad.... I rushed the post. I have code that triggers off the name "mind_flay" that is not getting executed due to the change to "buffed_flay".

The "buffed_flay" spell was not getting 15% mana reduction benefit from Focused Mind.

Editing the post now......

You are right....I have to normalize the results to the duration of the longest DoT (in this case I treat VE like a zero-dmg DoT).

This is exactly what I do. The code knows how to repeat the non-DoT portion of the sequence appropriately:

Step 1: Normalize all DoTs to the length of the longest one.

Step 2: Determine what percentage of "normalized_time" is spent just refreshing DoTs.

Step 3: Repeat the non-DoT portion of the sequence to fill: (normalized_time - DoT_setup_time)

Very true. While MindBlast -is- at the front of the non-DoT sequence for simiplicity sake I assume that refreshing DoTs has the highest priority.

However, since I extrapolate over the course of the longest DoT (1 minute for VE in this case), I believe the difference should be minor.
